CENTROSOME
1. Just outside the nuclei of animal cells is an area called the centrosome.
2. The term 'centrosome' was given by Theodor Boveri in 1888. .3. Centrosomes are typical of animal cells absent in plant cells. Centrioles
4. The centrosome contains the organelles known as centrioles.
5. The centrioles are always found in pairs (diplosomes), oriented at right angles to each other.
6. Centriole is a cylinder wall composed of 27 microtubules arranged in 9 triplets to long axis, (9 + 0) arrangement.
7. Two centrioles are found inside a specialized cytoplasm called centrosphere of kinosoplasm.
8. Centriole is the structure in the cell which is concerned with spindle formation during cell division.
9. Centrioles and basal bodies have common structure ar. power of duplication.
